How the Foundation and PTCC Work Together

The PCMS Foundation and the PTCC share a common goal --  enhanced educational opportunities for our children.

In general, the PCMS Foundation is focused on strategic, long-term goals and the PTCC is focused on governance and current operational issues.  The PCMS Foundation manages the PTCC operating budget, but the budget is decided by the PTCC executive council.

The PCMS Foundation's Purpose is to raise Money for PCMS

The PCMS Foundation solicits grants and donations to support long-term educational enhancements, health and wellness, extracurricular academic activities, and staff development opportunities for PCMS.
It conducts an annual funding campaign, seeking donations from families, businesses, and the community. In addition, the Foundation pursues grants, corporate sponsors, and other revenue streams outside the population of PCMS.
The Foundation's board of directors is composed of volunteer parents, teachers and staff, and other stakeholders. In their volunteer role, they raise funds and consider programs to enrich your child's educational experience over the long term.
There are no dues or fees under the Foundation. Participation is via your tax deductible donations. All money raised by the foundation benefits the students of Peachtree Charter Middle School.

The PTCC allocates the money to fund our charter programs and operates other programs of a typical pta

The Parent Teacher Charter Council (PTCC) is unique to Peachtree Charter Middle School. It combines the functions most parents know of a school council and a PTA/PTO organization.  The PTCC monitors the school's charter, determines a budget for the current academic year, and operates the programs of a typical PTA/PTO.
The programs include
  • peer proofing,
  • campus beautification,
  • e-Blast communications,
  • teacher appreciation,
  • book fair,
  • and more.
These functions are organized into action teams and are presided over by an executive council.  The executive council is composed of volunteer parents, teacher and staff representatives, and other stakeholders. They dedicate their time to enrich your child's experience at PCMS in the current year.
There are dues associated with participation in the PTCC.  Those funds are used to benefit the students and families at Peachtree Charter Middle School.

To promote synergy and communication between the two organizations and to avoid overlap of functions, the chair of the PCMS Foundation Board of Directors and the chair of the PTCC Executive Council attend each other's meetings as non-voting members.
