PTCC 2015-16 Year in Review

This page lists the PTCC's major accomplishments during the 2015-16 academic school year, as well as the anticipated opportunities and challenges for the current 2016-17 school year. This list was prepared by the 2015-16 PTCC Chair, at the end of the 2015-16 academic year. .

2015-2016 Accomplishments

  • Hosted registration
  • Brought cultural art productions to the school for each grade level
  • Hosted teacher, staff and bus driver appreciation events throughout the year
  • Re-wrote the charter and presented it to parents and staff for vote, overwhelmingly passing
  • Published directory and distributed to PTCC members
  • Began implementation of Membership Toolkit
  • Weekly e-communications
  • Staffed front office volunteer support
  • Facilitated discussion with student body through Character Ed committee
  • Hosted Rising 6th Grade Parent Coffees
  • Hosted CV Classic
  • Sold Spirit Wear year round
  • Recognized/rewarded TOTY (Teacher of the Year) and ESPY
  • Hosted Book Fairs
  • Ran Box Tops campaign
  • Maintained web presence

Opportunities and Challenges for 2016-2017

  • Introduce parents/guardians to Membership Toolkit (MTK)
  • Train volunteer corps on how to use Membership Toolkit
  • Create awareness that PTCC functions as School Council and engage in meaningful dialogue with PCMS administration about instruction
  • Create awareness that PCMS Charter allows for the PTCC to be utilized as an agent of parent concern resolution
  • Engage with teachers to have proper understanding of classroom needs for better consideration and recommendations of grant requests
  • Create stronger partnership with Foundation, including asking for monthly Foundation Chair and Treasurer reports; reciprocate by providing PTCC reports at Foundation meetings
  • Build and maintain dynamic relationships with area businesses through the Partners in Education committee
  • Review and amend bylaws
  • Communicate regularly with parents to generate greater awareness of PTCC endeavors
  • Actively engage and recruit volunteers 2x a year
  • Establish a website that is useful to our students' households
